Skyline Chess are pleased to announce their inaugural Skyline Art Prize for 2020.
Inviting artists from around the world to enter their artwork(s) on the theme of Skylines / Cities.
This competition is free to enter. The opportunity is open to artists at any career stage including students, recent graduates and early career artists. Submitted works can be of any medium, 2D or 3D or photographic. Works must be contemporary in nature and related to iconic city skylines or scenes of buildings.
A £500 cash prize will be awarded to the winning artist, with entries to be digitally exhibited.
Paid commissions for the artist, with an ongoing licensing agreement for further works may be offered for successful entries by separate negotiation.
We are now accepting entries for this year’s competition. Please email your artwork (300dpi minimum) and completed entry form to art@skyline-chess.com.

Skyline Chess are a successful international design brand who create high-end chess sets based on iconic city skylines. Working at the intersection between design and art we have been exhibited and retail with partners such at the MoMA (NYC & SF), National Gallery, Southbank Centre and Paul Smith.
Competition Rules:
- The competition is organised by Skyline Chess Limited.
- Entries may be submitted by sending a picture of the work (300dpi minimum) to art@skyline-chess.com along with a completed entry form (available here).
- The judges’ decision will be final.
- Any works submitted after midnight (GMT) on 31 August 2020 may be excluded from the competition. The competition deadline may be extended at the discretion of the organiser.
- All original works submitted as entries remain the property of the entrant unless separately negotiated. However, in entering the competition an artist agrees to a) make reasonably available; and b) grant permission to Skyline Chess Limited to display as its sees fit; a suitable digital image of the work for a period of up to 3 months from the date of the competition deadline.
- The objective of the competition is to find artist(s) capable of producing contemporary art works based on city skylines that can be commissioned for sale by Skyline Chess Limited by separate negotiation with the artist. If in the view of the judges no competition entries submitted are of sufficient quality to be potentially commissionable more widely the prize may go unpresented.
